Local growers visit Grupo Hijuelas to discover innovations in genetics and programs across different fruit species

At Hijuelas, we had the privilege of welcoming more than a dozen agricultural entrepreneurs who are helping shape the future of fruit production in Chile and Peru.

This exclusive gathering gave participants the opportunity to discover new tools, technologies, and genetic developments that are transforming the berry, table grape, cherry, avocado, hazelnut, and even native calafate industries in Chile and across Latin America.

During the day, we shared:

✅ New competitive genetics for growers, featuring high-value varieties with strong potential in global markets.

✅ A tour of our facilities, laboratories, research centers, and hardening areas, highlighting our focus on innovation and quality.

✅ A presentation of the @Grupo Hijuelas portfolio, where Nueva Vid introduced its table grape projects; Nefuen Trading and Jorge Mohr shared their outlook on European hazelnuts; Franco Sannazzaro presented our work in major fruit crops; and Ramón Guilleminot discussed his ambitious project focused on native species.

✅ The special participation of Professor Patricio Muñoz, Director of the Horticultural Crop Breeding Program at the University of Florida, who presented innovative varietal programs currently under development in the United States.

✅ A presentation by our second international guest, Neena Mitter, who, together with her team at the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI), is leading groundbreaking developments in avocado in vitro propagation, licensed to Grupo Hijuelas for the entire region.

Through this activity, we strengthened connections between industry leaders and the technological and genetic trends that will shape the future of fruit production, while continuing to position Grupo Hijuelas as a global agricultural development platform that supports growers with solutions designed to make a real difference in the market.
