Grupo Hijuelas took part in the delivery of materials to support the recovery of Las Rosas de Pocochay Nursery, located in the municipality of La Cruz, after a fire in mid-August severely damaged its assets, facilities, and a significant part of its production capacity.

The delivery was attended by Nicolás Prado García-Huidobro, Regional Secretary of Agriculture for the Valparaíso Region; Pilar Cuevas, Presidential Provincial Delegate for Quillota; and representatives from various institutions that have supported the affected family.

Representing Grupo Hijuelas, Gino Bonansco participated in the activity and delivered a range of materials requested by the nursery to help it begin restoring its operations.

Regional Secretary Nicolás Prado particularly highlighted the coordination between public and private organizations in responding to the emergency.

“This is a joint effort that is helping these growers get back on their feet, which is what matters most to us as a Ministry: having farmers who, despite the difficulties, are able to recover and keep moving forward.”

The authority explained that, following the fire, the Ministry of Agriculture sought to bring private companies into the support efforts already being carried out by the municipality, the Fire Department, the Presidential Delegation, and other public institutions. Grupo Hijuelas and its team responded to that call.

The collaboration also carried special significance, as Las Rosas de Pocochay Nursery already had an established relationship with Grupo Hijuelas and uses the company’s inputs in a significant part of its production processes.

For his part, Gaspar Goycoolea, President of Grupo Hijuelas, expressed his appreciation for the coordination that made this support possible.

“The recovery of Las Rosas de Pocochay Nursery is something that brings us together as a local community, and the ability of growers, companies, and public institutions to work together is essential when facing situations that directly affect the productive continuity of families connected to the agricultural sector,” he said.
